Torrent Power Limited is an India-based company engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity with operations in the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Company has a generating capacity of 500 megawatt at Ahmedabad, comprising, 400 megawatt coal-based thermal power station at Sabarmati and 100 megawatt dual fuel-based combined cycle power plant at Vatva. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, the Company’s Ahmedabad and Surat License Areas operations in Gujarat contributed approximately 82% of the power business revenues and the balance was contributed by Bhiwandi Distribution Franchise in Maharashtra. The Company’s subsidiaries include Torrent Power Grid Limited, Torrent Energy Limited, Torrent Pipavav Generation Limited and Torrent Power Bhiwandi Limited.
