Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. is a Japan-based company mainly engaged in the manufacture of chemicals. The Company operates in four business segments. The Functional Materials segment manufactures and sells automotive and industrial materials, living and energy materials, electronic and information materials, polyurethane materials, as well as coating and functional materials. The Advanced Chemicals segment manufactures and sells precision chemicals and agricultural chemicals. The Basic Chemicals segment manufactures and sells basic ingredients, phenol, synthetic textile materials, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins, industrial chemicals, polyethylene and polypropylene, among others. The Others segment is engaged in the manufacture and sale of ethylene acetate vinyl copolymers, fluorine resins and alternative freons, among others, as well as other related business. In April, 2009, the Company merged with Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethane, Inc.
