D1 Oils plc is a holding company. The Company is engaged in the development of Jatropha curcas, sustainable feedstock for biodiesel, and the development, sale and licensing of technology and services for the selection, breeding, planting and harvesting of Jatropha and the production of crude Jatropha oil (CJO) and its co products. Jatropha is a hardy crop that is able to grow on a wide range of soils, including soils which are sub-optimal for arable agriculture. Its grain is crushed to produce inedible oil for biodiesel and meal that has the potential to be processed into protein source for animal feed. Its subsidiaries include D1 (UK) Limited, D1 Oil Subsidiary Limited, D1 Oils Africa (Pty) Limited, D1 Oils Asia Pacific Pte Limited, D1 Oils Ghana Pty Limited, D1 Oils India private Limited, D1 Oils Madagascar SARL, D1 Oils Plant Science (UK) Limited, D1 Oils Trading Limited and D1 Oils Zambia Limited. On July 27, 2009, the Company had a joint venture with BP International Limited.
