Business Summary
Kagara Ltd is principally engaged in mineral exploration, development and mineral production. The Company operates primarily in copper and zinc mining and exploration in Australia. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2010 (fiscal 2010), the Company mined and processed ore primarily from underground mines at Balcooma, Mt Garnet and Mungana. During fiscal 2010, Mt Garnet polymetallic plant and Mt Garnet copper plant produced 43,970 tons of zinc metal in concentrates, 20,214 tons of copper metal in concentrates and 1,392 tons of lead metal in concentrates. During fiscal 2010, the Thalanga Copper plant produced 3,488 tons of copper metal in concentrates. In January 2011, it announced that JPMorgan Chase & Co. and its affiliates have ceased to be a substantial holder in the Company. In March 2012, Kagara Ltd completed the sale of its Western Australia nickel assets. Under the completed agreement, Western Areas NL acquired 100% of the Company's nickel subsidiary, Kagara Nickel Pty Ltd.
